Wind in your calves…
“Two travellers around the world, at the mercy of the wind and the strength of their calves.”
This simple sentence, as an introduction to their brand new blog, sums up the obviousness of Manon and Valentin's project quite well.
To travel the world using only the strength of their calves, and to play with the wind to cross the oceans!
This is not the first “0 carbon” world tour that Kortel Design is pleased to support, and it may even be a little in our DNA!
It was Olivier PEYRE who first contacted us a few years ago for his project “En route avec aile” (On the road with a wing), which would take him on the great loop in no less than 7 years, crisscrossing the roads on his faithful steed and using sailboat hitchhiking to change continents. This even resulted in the first Kruyer, a light and comfortable harness to take everywhere that was imagined simultaneously. Olivier tested it mercilessly and gave us ultra-constructive field feedback!
Sandrine, a solo world tourer, is currently in the heart of Australia. She left France at the end of 2020, and has already completed half of her journey comfortably installed on her recumbent bike. In her panniers, a Kruyer III which has accompanied her since the beginning of her trip and which has allowed her to make incredible flights! Find her on Instagram and on her blog.
And it is now Valentin and Manon's turn to prepare to set off on a journey that they have been preparing for more than 10 months now, and which will certainly bring them great emotions.
After an initial contact at the beginning of January 2023, we quickly met to discuss the project and the choice of the most appropriate equipment. Valentin and Manon's enthusiasm and generosity immediately won us over, and they were able to find what they were looking for in our wide range of light products. Their choice finally fell on the Kruyer III for its excellent comfort / compactness ratio as well as on a K40 to carry all the flight equipment in a single light and comfortable bag during their hike-and-fly trips.
Such an adventure must be lived to the fullest, but they have also decided to share it thanks to Instagram and this blog “DuVentDansLesMollets”, on which you can already discover the genesis of the project, their questions, the preparations, the equipment tests, and then in a while follow them throughout their journey. A sailboat has been found to consider the transatlantic crossing! As a result, the date of departure by bike from Sallanches is becoming clearer…
See you soon for the rest of their adventures!
